Voter Registration Drives
Anyone distributing voter registration cards in California should be familiar with the rules and regulations for conducting voter registration drives.
Registration classes are provided by the Registrar of Voters' office. In order to obtain more than 50 registration cards, a person must first attend a registration class.

If you would like to register using a paper voter registration application, you can pick one up at the Registrar of Voters Office, located in the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse at 1225 Fallon Street, Room G1, Oakland, California. Forms are also available at any public library, Department of Motor Vehicles offices, or U.S. post offices. It is important that your voter registration application is filled out completely and be postmarked or hand-delivered to your county elections office at least 15 days before an election.

The voter registration deadline is always 15 days before an election, but please be advised that voters who register after the 29th day before an election may not receive a sample ballot due to the short turn-around time for mailing. However, voters should receive notice of the location of their polling place in the mail.
