The Cost Per Voter is determined based on actual election expenses incurred. The above figures are estimates only based on previous election data. The Cost Per Voter is billed based upon the number of Registered Voters per jurisdiction.

Due to increased associated labor, services, and printing costs of extra ballot cards, jurisdictions which have five or more measures are allocated two shares of the total election expenses based upon their registered voter count. This allows for a more accurate apportionment of election costs to responsible jurisdictions, as it reduces the burden on jurisdictions with fewer attributable expenses.

Special election type costs, such as Ranked Choice Voting and Youth Voting are independently tracked and billed to the responsible jurisdictions separately from standard election costs. The billing method for these special election types is outlined in the signed Memorandum of Understanding between The County of Alameda and the jurisdictions where special election types are held.

Acceptable Possible Election Dates

EC 1000(e) – The first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each year.

November 3, 2026 – Election

August 7, 2026 – Deadline to file Resolution

August 12, 2026 – Deadline to file Arguments In Favor/Against

August 17, 2026 – Deadline to file Rebuttals to Arguments In Favor/Against

 

EC  1002 – Except as provided in Section 1003, notwithstanding any other provisions of law, all state, county, municipal, district, and school district elections shall be held on an established election date.
